THE SHORT VERSION
Choose Semi Gloss for a smooth surface with a slight shine, Ultrasmooth for a smooth matt finish or Satin Canvas for a subtle woven feel.
250gsm Semi Gloss: smooth with a little shine
Our Semi Gloss paper has a smooth surface with a slight sheen. It is a versatile choice for photographs and richly coloured digital artwork, especially when you want a gently polished finish.
Semi-gloss does not mean a coarse texture or a mirror-like gloss. Think smooth paper with a restrained shine. Consider where the print will sit, as lighting can affect how reflective surfaces appear.
Ultrasmooth fine art paper: keep it matt
Ultrasmooth has a smooth matt finish. It is a good option for illustrations, portraits and artwork where you want the surface to stay visually quiet.
If your preference is a print without a shiny paper finish, start here. Framing glass can still introduce reflections, so consider the whole display rather than the paper alone.
Satin Canvas: a subtle canvas character
Our Satin Canvas has a fine, subtle weave and a largely matt feel with a gentle satin finish. It adds a little surface character without the heavy texture you might associate with a coarse canvas.
It can suit bold or painterly images. ArtFart supplies the printed canvas without stretching or a frame, so plan how you will display it before ordering.
Let the image have the final say
There is no rule that photographs must use semi-gloss or illustrations must use matt. Your taste, the image and the light in the room all play a part.
Compare the close-up stock photographs on Our Papers and think about the finish you enjoy looking at. Whichever you choose, check the crop and recommended size first. A lovely surface cannot fix a poor original file.
